Wellness at Work: How Companies Can Build Teams That Thrive
In today’s fast-paced working world, employees aren’t just looking for a paycheck — they’re looking for balance, meaning, and connection. Companies everywhere are beginning to realise that wellness at work isn’t just a “perk” anymore. It’s a necessity.
When people feel supported in their mental, emotional, and social wellbeing, they bring their best selves to the workplace. They collaborate better, communicate more openly, and innovate with greater ease. And when teams thrive, businesses thrive.
The Rising Importance of Workplace Wellness
Workplace stress, burnout, and disconnection have become real challenges in recent years. Employees are juggling multiple roles, often stretched thin by deadlines, meetings, and personal responsibilities. Without proper care, this imbalance impacts not only individual health, but also team performance.
That’s why mental health and workplace wellness have moved to the top of many HR and leadership priorities. Investing in employee wellbeing is no longer “good to have” — it’s a strategic move that builds loyalty, resilience, and long-term success.
How GenWell™ Creates Experiences That Matter
At GenWell™ (formerly Gemstory), we’ve made it our mission to bring simple, soulful wellness experiences into workplaces. Our workshops aren’t about lectures or long checklists — they’re about experiential practices that help employees pause, reset, and reconnect.
-
AromaGems Mist Workshop – Blending natural scents with gemstones to create personalised mists that calm the mind and uplift energy.
-
Gem Canvas Art Workshop – A creative outlet for employees to express themselves through colors and gemstones, encouraging mindfulness and emotional release.
-
Gem Hunting Experience – A hands-on journey of discovery, where participants pick gemstones that reflect their emotional state, sparking conversations about self-awareness and balance.
-
Custom Bracelet Story Workshop – A playful yet meaningful activity where employees design intention-based bracelets, creating wearable reminders of connection and focus.
Each workshop is designed with mindfulness at its heart — engaging the senses, slowing down the pace, and giving participants a chance to experience wellness, not just talk about it.
Aha Moments That Stay With Me
Over the years, I’ve witnessed countless moments that touched me deeply — reminders of why I do this work.
There was one session where I spoke about the importance of self-love and self-care — how we must heal and care for ourselves first before we can truly care for others. In that moment, a participant began tearing in front of me. Later, I learned she had been a caregiver for years, carrying the weight of responsibility while overlooking her own needs. That moment reminded me how vital it is to create spaces where people can pause, release, and remember their own worth.
In another workshop, I spoke about expressing ourselves honestly with our loved ones and partners. A couple who joined us realised how much they had been struggling with communication. Through the exercises, they became more aware of each other’s feelings, learning to treasure their bond and respect how they both express themselves.
And during one of our family bonding sessions, a mother and her child connected in ways they hadn’t before. As the child picked gemstones by color and explored scents, the mother began to understand her child’s emotions on a deeper level. What started as a playful activity turned into a moment of empathy, love, and closeness.
I also recall a corporate team-building session where participants discovered something new about their peers. As they worked through the activities, they not only connected on a deeper level but also learned how nature essences could help calm the mind during stressful moments. Some shared afterwards that this simple awareness gave them practical ways to manage overwhelm, raise their motivation, and bring a calmer presence back to work.
These are the kinds of moments that go beyond wellness workshops — they become turning points, helping people rediscover balance, compassion, and connection.
Building a Culture of Thriving
Wellness at work isn’t a one-off event — it’s a culture. It’s about weaving balance, mindfulness, and creativity into the fabric of everyday working life. Our role at GenWell™ is to spark that shift, one workshop, one mindful pause, and one connection at a time.
Because at the end of the day, success isn’t just about numbers or targets. It’s about people. And when people feel well, they don’t just work better — they live better.
Here’s to building workplaces where wellness is not just encouraged, but celebrated. Together, we can build teams that truly thrive.
