A Singapore where employee wellness is built into how organisations perform – not bolted on as an afterthought. Where teams are given structured space to reset before they break, and where the results show up in the work.

Founder's Note

"Most teams don't need more motivation. They need to reset. I built Genwell because I've lived both sides of that sentence."

I didn’t set out to build what would become a corporate wellness Singapore brand. I set out to survive.

My first career was in the RSAF – where discipline wasn’t optional and performance under pressure was just Tuesday. That structure shaped me. But when I moved into corporate sales and banking, I discovered a different kind of pressure. The kind that doesn’t come with a clear chain of command. The kind that compounds quietly – in back-to-back meetings, in targets that reset the moment you hit them, in teams that look fine on the outside and are running on empty underneath.

I left that world and did something nobody in my circle understood. I started a pushcart at Bugis Junction selling gemstones.

What I discovered wasn’t a retail business. It was something more useful — I discovered that when you slow someone down, engage their senses, and give them a moment of genuine pause, something shifts. Not in a spiritual way. In a practical, observable, this person just exhaled for the first time today kind of way.

That became Gemstory. And over 12 years, as we grew from a pushcart to a shophouse to corporate event spaces across Singapore, I kept watching the same thing happen: people who came in wound up, leaving grounded. Teams that arrived disconnected, leaving with something to talk about on the way home.

Genwell is what I built when I realised that corporate wellness in Singapore deserved more than fruit baskets and step-count challenges. It deserved a structured, sensory-led methodology – one that works on how people actually function, not just how we wish they did.

The 5+1 Senses Reset isn’t a theory. It’s 12 years of watching what happens when you give a burnt-out team the right kind of pause.

If your team is performing but struggling, or struggling to perform – this is where we start.

2025 and Beyond: The Genwell Era

In 2025, Gemstory evolved into Genwell, and the mission sharpened. What started as a gemstone crystal retail brand became something more targeted: a sensory reset system built specifically for corporate teams.

Today, Genwell works with organisations like Singapore Airlines, UOB, Deloitte, and the Ministry of Home Affairs to deliver structured, nature-based experiences that help teams pause, recalibrate, and return to work with more clarity. Every session is built on the 5+1 Senses Reset framework and guided by the ReAlign Framework: Reset, Awareness, Balance, Action.

From hands-on team sessions at our Aperia Mall studio to large-scale event booth activations for 200 people or more, the format adapts but the outcome stays the same. Teams walk away grounded, reconnected, and ready to perform.

This is not a rebrand. It is 12 years of experience distilled into a single, clear purpose: helping the people behind every high-performing team remember to reset themselves first.

Pushcart Beginnings (Where It Started)

It started with a pushcart at Bugis Junction and Chinatown Point, selling gemstones face to face.No storefront, no brand deck, no website. Just direct conversations with hundreds of people every week.

What I learned standing behind that cart was something no corporate role had taught me: when you slow someone down and engage their senses, even for a few minutes, their entire energy shifts. Not in an abstract way. In a visible, practical, “this person just dropped their shoulders for the first time today” kind of way.

That observation became the seed of everything Genwell does now.

Mohamad Sultan Days

Mohamad Sultan Shophouse Days (Testing the Format)

From pushcarts to our first permanent space at Mohd Sultan Road, the work started to take shape.

I began running private sessions and small group experiences, testing what happened when you combined gemstones, essential oils, and guided sensory activities in a structured setting. The results were consistent: people arrived distracted and left grounded. That pattern held whether it was an individual session or a corporate team of twenty.

We started getting enquiries from companies. Pop-up booths at malls turned into on-site corporate sessions. The format was shifting from retail to experience, and the demand was coming from the organisations themselves.

Bras Basah Opening 2023

From Retail to Corporate Wellness (Shaw Towers and Bras Basah Complex)

With spaces at Shaw Towers and later Bras Basah Complex, the business expanded, but more importantly, the model changed. We launched the experiential formats that Genwell still delivers today: AromaGems Mist sessions, Gem Canvas Art, and The Art Of Purposeful Collage experience. Each was designed around the same principle: using structured sensory engagement to help people pause and reset.

Corporate clients started bringing us on-site. What began as one-off team sessions grew into repeat bookings, quarterly wellness programmes, and large-scale event activations. We were no longer a retail shop that ran workshops. We were a corporate wellness partner that happened to have come from retail.

This was the real turning point: the shift from selling products to delivering structured reset experiences for organisations across Singapore.
